I got to present my presentation with my partner and our topic was The Role Of Duty in Family Relationships. We got to talk about how different family relationships are and how a lot of cultures are different. We also asked discussion questions such as ‘Do you think it’s fair to have duties forced upon you?’ I think it’s okay to have duties but it should never be forced either, I think it’s okay to help out your parents with what they need but it should never make you feel overwhelmed about it either.I think someone’s own happiness matters too. We also go to hear from 2 more peers , their presentations topics were about gender roles and generation conflict.

My classmates presented some of their presentations. We got to discuss a little, one of my classmates made a character analysis. He said,” The theme not everyone can accept the truth is related to Rakesh, because he couldn't accept the fact that his father was going to die soon, and he kept changing his diet and adding pills that was eventually apart of the diet. “ Which I think happens a lot , there’s people who don’t want to accept the truth whether it hurts , but eventually as time goes by you kinda just have to accept things.

We got introduced to A Devoted Son by Anita Desai, which talks about ambitions and familial obligations. It shows the relationship between a parent and a child. It highlights the struggles and choices individuals face when torn between their own desires and their responsibilities towards their family. I think it’s a pretty good text because it talks about real life and how different cultures are and what what the parents expect from their kids.

We made cultural connects to the text of “A Devoted Son.” We got to answer some questions, we had a couple minutes to do that and then after we would have to share our answers. One of the questions was, what   are some expectations your parents or guardians have for you that you think are influenced by their generational perspective? I had answered expectations my parents have for me is me going to college because they know there's more opportunities here than they had over in Mexico, its not something they force me to do but they just give me talks about it.

Today we got assigned a newsela assignment , that’s called “Three-year bachelor’s degrees could save families thousands-but are students ready?” A 3 year bachelor degree is a program that allows student to complete their undergraduate education in a shorter timeframe compared to the traditional 4 year bachelors degree. I feel like it gets hard for students not only physically but mentally as well, so sometimes it can be good but sometimes it’s not that good because either a 3 year it hasn’t to be more rushed so you’d have to really focus and pay attention but also not get stressed or overwhelmed.

We took a test on all the William Blake poems. I did pretty good on it , I enjoyed reading the poems in class. Definitely would read more poems from him. Also discussing them in class , they all have a different meaning behind it.

We got assigned to do a culture poem, basically a visual representation of your culture poem. Including pictures , two themes , 4 literacy devices and 3 analysis of 3 quotes from the poem. I basically wanted to write about where my parents from and how beautiful it is, how they would want to someday go back , and me also wanting to visit there. I’ve never been there, just because i’m scared and certain places it can be dangerous but that’s not what it’s all about , i’d want to visit my grandparents and just be there for my parents , i’d want to see where they grew up in and what they lived and what IS THEIR HOME.
